Community Conversation: February

In 2022 we hosted ten Tutor Talks, a place to meet other tutors, get support and professional development, and share ideas, questions, and concerns.

This year, we will be including students and other members of our NALC community in some of our sessions. With that in mind, we're changing the name of these meetings to Community Conversations to be more inclusive of all stakeholders. We will still have a hefty amount of professional development catered toward volunteer tutors, but will also have student speakers and other guests that our whole organization can benefit from.

Our second Community Conversation of 2023 will be open to learners and tutors! Learn more and RSVP below!

When: Wednesday, February 22, 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Note: we do plan to vary the days and times that we gather to help meet a variety of scheduling needs. If this month doesn't work for you, maybe next month will!

Where: over Zoom - RSVP to receive the link.

What: This month, we welcome guest speakers Johana Brito and Beth Thomas.

Put on your dancing shoes: Johana will be leading the group in a quick Latin dance lesson!

Beth is the Refugee & Immigrant Advocate at MNPD's Family Intervention Program. She'll be sharing information about this resource and also information about the Nashville Refugee & Immigrant Collective that she helps manage.

While we will have a different topic each month, we want these meet-ups to be most helpful to you. So if there is a question, issue, or thought you want to share with the group that's not necessarily "on topic," please feel free to do so.

Please let us know if you plan on attending the upcoming, virtual, Community Conversation on February 22 at 5 p.m.
