How did you find NALC?

Sabrina: I found NALC searching on the internet after moving with my family to the Nashville area. I was looking for a good place where I could improve my English skills. Also, I needed a space where I could feel safe and belonging.

Leslie: I received a letter in the mail about virtual one-on-one volunteer opportunities for teaching immigrants how to improve their English skills.

What has your experience been like?

Sabrina: I couldn't be happier. In NALC, I met Leslie, my English tutor. She is kind and patient. She is always open to helping me learn how to add and use new vocabulary and comprehend cultural differences. I genuinely enjoy her lessons and how she uses different mechanisms to make me understand her teaching. Also, she is a great person, which makes me comfortable in a friendly atmosphere. Plus, Burlington is a great platform. They have practical and useful lessons. 

Leslie: It’s been an extremely positive and rewarding experience being able to tailor my tutoring to my student’s individual goals for gaining more confidence as an English reader, writer, and speaker. I’ve been quite impressed with the high level of motivation my student has shown during our lessons and the rapid progress she has made!
